Maintenance plans.

  • I'm having issues setting up maintenance plans in 2005.

Management studio lets me start a new Maintenance Plan and configure it, but everytime I try to save it I get an error message that says "No Description Found."  Has anyone seen anything like this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Is this RTM version or SP1 installed SQL box ?

If you seen this on RTM box, Is SSIS installed on the box? In Sp1, this should be resolved because the needed components are installed as part of tools install.

If SSIS is installed or if it is an SP1 box, then the workaround of registering msxml3.dll and msxml6.dll should help.

Let us know if this solution helped.

    Thanks,

  • Yah, SSIS installed on an SP1 box... version 9.00.2047.00...  Was hoping that the SP1 install was going to take care of it.

    registered those .DLLs... no dice.

This is a feature that should work out of the box right?

    Thanks again.

  • That is right, it should work out of the box.

We could not repro this in our labs.

Can you send more info (to gdwarak@microsoft.com) on the maint plan tasks that you are trying to create(detailed repro steps) and we will try to see whether we could repro in out labs ?

    Thanks,

    Gops Dwarak
