Hello All,
I've searched, but have not had any luck.
SQL 2000 MSDE (8.00.760) using EM.
While creating the maintenance plan I noticed the frequency drop list (for deleting old backup files) was missing its data. I also noticed that after I created the maintenance plan and had to go edit it, the set location for the backups was missing. The "use this directory" radio button is marked, but the text box is empty.
I've seen this once before and can't for the life of me recall what was done to fix this.
Though I'm not using it for this particular server, the transaction log backup tab does not show the frequency either. The reporting tab does show the frequency.
TIA for the help.
Dave

Sounds like the EM instance is broken. Does this happen against any server instance or just the MSDE ones?

MSDE is the only server instance on the machine.

I found the answer.
Enterprise Manager expects to find a value for "BackupDirectory" at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer
Any value can be added to this reg key. I simply used "c:\backup" and now it works.
Thanks!
