Hello all,
I have a Windows Server 2003 sp2 Enterprise Edition running SQL Server 2005.
I administer it from my local machine across the network using SQL Server Management Studio.
I have a number of maintenance plans which run and complete fine, but if I try to view their properties I receive the following error:
Cannot show requested dialog.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Cannot show requested dialog. (SqlMgmt)
Attempt to retrieve data for object failed for Server 'MyServer'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
unknown property CategoryID (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum)
I have searched for a solution with no luck.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance.

Did you refresh the list of jobs in SSMS? Try if restarting SSMS will solve the issue.
Are you enable to view the properties through a Remote Desktop (or physically) on the server?

I had a similar issue in the past, and it was caused by my SSMS not being at the same version of the server. I ran the SP2 install on my local machine and it fixed the error.
