Looking For A Career Move?

  • Have you ever wanted to be a CTO? Are you qualified to be one?

Or maybe you want to move your boss along to a new position...away from you 🙂

A good friend of ours asked if we could help with their job search for a new CTO in the Orlando area. We decided it might be something that we could help with since many of you are experienced individuals and know lots of people in this business, so here it is.

Channel Intelligence is searching for a new CTO to help them continue to grow as a leader in their field. The official summary is:

This position will be instrumental in continuing to improve the company’s infrastructure by implementing new technologies and maintaining a strategy to meet current and future needs. CI has developed custom software over many years which is vital to its competitive edge. The CTO has an opportunity to manage and advance our current industry dominance in this area.

The company is in Orlando, a world class destination for enjoying the sunshine and from our friends at the company, they say it's a great place to work. So pass the word, or apply if you choose. The posting is in our forum.

And on a lighter note. Bill Gates is being Knighted! Not sure that some of the Open Source crowd wouldn't like to see the sword take off an ear or a larger body part, but it's quite an honor for a geek. Not even Michael Jordan got knighted 🙂

    Steve Jones

  • Bill Gates' knighthood got a fair bit of publicity over here in the UK. Apparently the previous evening the Queen had hosted a bash for the music industry where she was introduced to Eric Clapton. Her conversation opener was 'And what do you do, Mr. Clapton?' Can't imagine why people think the royal family is out of touch!

  • I've been a CTO and think that these are some of the necessary attributes IMO:

    - good all round technical knowledge

    - good people m'ment skills

    - respect from peers and upper m'ment

    - financial savvy for budgets

    - calm persona in a crisis

    - knows when to have a big boozy lunch for morale

    - ability to hire (and fire :blush

    - fair and reasonable

    -understands the business
