logshippin port number

  • Hi,

I wish to know that what is port numbers available in logshipping...

can any one give me reply

  • the only thing that happens is outside of the local scope is the file copy so you should only need file share ports opening, typically 445 would also open up the SQL ports just incase eg 1433 etc

  • How can we come to know the file share is opened, and how to check the port number is assigned for that configuration and all.

    Please let me know...

  • disable windows firewall on your servers

if your on the same LAN for Pri and Sec servers and there is no firewall inbetween then its open

if there is a firewall speak to your network administrators who can add the right rules in

the link in the reply above tells you which ports are used for SMB/CIFS

  • Is there any query to find that port number assigned to partners...

  • what port are you trying to find out? the port which SQL is running on? you can use the SQL Server Configuration Manager to find that out, if its a default instance it will be 1433 unless you changed it

  • I want to know for logshipping port number has assigned to that partner. for this is there any query to find ?

    Plz any one help...

  • they dont have any special ports in logshipping, they use file copy ports and whatever port SQL is running on, usually 1433 unless you have changed it or installed a named instance

mirroring on the other hand does use ports which are user defined
