locks mechanism - acquired lock (more times) vs released

  • Hi guys,

I have a problem with locks. There are two sessions. One blocks second. On the end of the trace file I can see Lock:timeout event with textData (ae7518055754). I traced back and found index (ae7518055754) has acquired lock (more times) and then it's released. Modes are 4 - U, 5 - X and 15. There is just one release, but many times it's acquired. Is this means there is no lock on the key? Or the others acquired locks are still presented? Apparently the locks are still presented. But it in theory is it correct?

Thanks all for you time and effort. I'll appreciate that.

    Miroslav

  • Can't see your picture.

No, probably not. There are a lot of reasons why you might see more lock acquired than released. Lock conversions (U to X) or escalations (row to table or page to table)

Take a few steps back, what problem are you trying to solve here?
