Lock Memory (KB) Counter shows 4 GB Usage, with 1800 transaction locks, how to reduce lock memory?

  • Hi as title states, in my SQL Server 2008 EE SP3 box with 64 GB memory and 59000 max server memory setting, I have page life expectancy ~100 seconds and suspect memory pressure. Lock Memory is the second biggest memory area other than buffer pool ~4 GB.

The result of sys.dm_tran_locks is usually 1800 rows but once I saw 20,000 rows. I want to find the reason behind this high lock memory and try to reduce it afterwards. How can I do this? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Serter
