Hi
I currently "rent" SQL Server space. Our applications mean it will be more cost effective to buy our own SQL Server software and license and rent a new dedicated web server to run it on than stump up for the additional data "size" costs that we are incurring
Basically, it looks like SQL Server 2000 should be roughly £700UKP for the software and £5000UKP for a "per processor" license
What I can't seem to find out on the SQL Server Microsoft site is whether this is an annual recurring license charge or a one-off cost
Anybody able to enlighten me?
Thanks

http://www.amazon.co.uk have a price of £4,143.80 for a single SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition single processor license.
There is no annual charge.
If you have a purchasing arrangement with Microsoft then you ought to do significantly better than this.
If you have a small number of users then investigate cost of per user license e.g. Amazon have a 5 user version for £1,262.43
You will of course also need a suitable operating system e.g. Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

Thanks guys - we've just placed the order for a per-processor license which will allow us to communicate with the server across a number of domains
Thanks
