Hi, i know this is a sql forum but snowflake purports to interface with everything so i was hoping to get an opinion from some of the pundits in this forum.
Does anyone in this community have an opinion either way of the snowflake product?
One of the biggest areas of confusion is that they bring along etl partners to their seminars but tout features related to snowpipe in their marketing. Are they ALSO an etl tool or not?

I don't know a ton about Snowflake, but I know it has been used by a lot of customers. It can be $$$, but it works well and seems to have a lot of flexibility if you can afford it.
No idea on the ETL stuff, but I'm sure they have a bunch of ETL capabilities becuase you're typically taking data from elsewhere into the platform.
Note: Added a snowflake forum and moved this.

thx Steve, i have a meeting with one of their reps to ask, amongst other things, why they bring etl biz partners to their seminars if snowpipe is a good feature.

Snowpipe is essentially an ingestion tool to load data into Snowflake tables without manual intervention. Snowpipe detects the presence of a load file on a stage and automatically ingests the data data through a pipe. Snowpipe does not extract data from other systems. Documentation is here https://docs.snowflake.com/en/user-guide/data-load-snowpipe-intro

ths Ross, i will read that doc. My understanding is that snowflake has now purchased an etl product/company. What i'm gathering is that snowpipe isnt for large amounts of data. I'll share what i learn with the community here in this post.
