Is there going to be a 32 bit version of SQL 2008

  • I dont seem to find a definitive answer on the net, I see developer editions, but not the standard or enterprise editions.

  • Yes, there will be. The latest CTPs come in x86, x64 and IA64.

However that might be the last version. I have heard rumors that Windows 2011 (or whatever comes next) will be 64 bit only. This would mean that the platforms built on that (Exchange, SQL, MOM, SMS, etc.) will all be 64-bit only at that point.

  • Being CTP what you see you is available, as per the BOL documentation there will be 32 bit for sure, its a disaster for not getting out 32 bit without prior notice 🙂
