Is there a way way move Databases files w/o taking the DB offline?

    I want to move some DB files to a different drive, but not sure how to do that w/o taking the DB's offline. Is that possible?

    I don't think its possible. Always detache a database that is currently not in use.

    You can't move live database files to a different drive. You can move data to a different drive, by moving the clustered indexes, but even that creates locks on tables and might be worse than taking the DB offline.
