Intellisense not working

  • I upgrade SQL 2008 express to SQL 2012 standard but Intellisense did not work.

From tools, Text editor, transact-SQL, Intellisense, I checked enable.

    How to make Intellisense work?

  • Yeah.....It's buggy sometimes. Did you tried refreshing your IntelliSense local cache? You can do that from Edit->Intellisense->Refresh local cache.

Also, patch your SSMS to the latest build. If you are not satisfied with Native intellisense, you could try adding free tools like ApexSQL SQLComplete plugin to your SSMS.

Disclaimer: I don't work for ApexSQL...I just love that free tool which they are offering.

  • Hi!

    You can try this IntelliSense

  • I installed ApexSQL, it works great. Thanks.

  • I've never found Intellisense to work adequately. Another tool to try is SQL Prompt from Red Gate Software.

  • Intellisense in SQL Server stopped working for me when I isntalled Visual Studio 2010.

David Haney has a write-up here about it.

I just got used to not having it. It sometimes seems to get in the way.

Intellisense still works in VS 2010 but not SQL Server.
