We need to install SQL Server 2008 client on everyone's machine. Some users needs BIDS 2008 and want to create integration service / analysis service project. I have specifically not installed "integration service" on the client side as it requires license. Now developers are complaining that they can't create integration / analysis project and it is asking for "intergration service" to be installed on client side. In 2005, this was not required, as user were able to run the package from BIDS 2005 in debug mode and see the package execution from SQL Server Management Studio 2005.
Does installation of "integration service" on the client side will require a new license ? Is there any alternative solutuion or this is the change in design in 2008
