I have having trouble installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio Express which I just uninstalled SQL Server 2008 R2 and I am not sure what it left behind that makes installing express version a hassle. I need the express version of SQL Server 2008 R2 express because 2010 Visual Web Developer only accepts the express version and not the standard version. I tried to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio Express from the link:
I have Windows 7 64-bit on my machine and downloaded the File Name:
SQLManagementStudio_x64_ENU.exe
I have been able to get to the Feature Selection step which has all the included features selected and clicked next and got the error message
"To continue, select a feature to install. If all features are already installed. You cannot add additional features." This is a screen shot of my programs menu and Setup in the image attached with the file name:
SQL Server 2008 R2 feature selection.png
I have backed up my databases from the directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\MSSQL\Data
to a separate folder in my documents
I am not sure where to start with what components I have to uninstall or install or where to proceed with Installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio Express?
