Installing MS SQL Server 2012 in hardened Windows Server 2012

  • I am a System guy. I have this issue a few days already and I want to make it work.

I have setup a Windows Server 2012R2 and hardened the OS with CIS template.

I installed Microsoft SQL Server 2012 on this hardened server. However, the following feature failed.

    1) Database Engine Services Failed

    2) Data Quality Services failed

    3) Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search failed

    4) SQL Server Replication failed

    5) Reporting Services - Native failed

I have attached the logs. I believed I am lacking of some permissions or GPO rights for the setup account or service accounts. Any experts can tip me off?

  • you typically harden the server after the applications have been installed not before hand.

What level of permission did the user have running the installation?

  • The setup account is using Local Admin. I have also followed this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2000257?wa=wsignin1.0.

  • From the "etails.txt" I read the SQL Service is stopping at some moment. Are there any events logged in the Windows Event log? If so: does it state a cause of why the service stopped?
