hi,
I installed the sql server 2000 Service Pack 3a on a new clean machine. after that I wanted to install the ms reporting services. the installation was reported succesfull but only the help was installed and during the installation-process there have there have been no possibilities to configure the whole thing like I normally do.
the operating system ist windows 2003 server sp1. I installed RS on many machines and this is the second (first it occures on a sql server 2000 Service Pack 4 installation) time this problem occures. how that comes?
anyone the same problem or a solution?

There were quite a few different distribution disks for SQL Server 2000, and Reporting Services did not come out until late in 2003. Is there any possibility that you used different disks and the version you used only had the help on it? Doesn't sound totally rational; but it could be an explanation. While we were still dealing with betas on 2005 I built and configured a machine with 2000 and reporting services so I could follow the tutorials in "Hitchhiker's Guide to ... Reporting Services" and post intelligently on that forum. I think I got ahold of the wrong disks at one point and there was no Reporting Services on it... althouth I must admit, the help didn't load either.

I have had the same problem too, with very similar symptoms as above. However, I am certain that the disk is fine as I used the same disk to do an install on another machine on the same day. The other went fine.
I have spent days on the internet trying to find a solution but with no success. The only difference between the two machines is one is W2K and the other is W2K3. The installation has worked fine on both types of server before so assuming this is a red herring. Help!
