Sorry about the bool. [bool happens to be a user defined data type on the database I was working on while framing this question], that should be char(1)

It's okay, VM. But remember that if you are basing your results on one db system and asking about expected results in another, their optimizers may not always work identically. That's a HUGE variable. However, we've already established that the answer to your question is "it depends." Have a great weekend 🙂
