For personal enjoyment and to learn SQL 2005 i decided to build my own DB at home and make a DB with stock market and other economic data. So far i have tables for a few indexes and some stocks. Yahoo Finance lets you download data as csv's which i then import into sql.
http://table.finance.yahoo.com/d?a=4&b=1&c=1900&d=4&e=30&f=2006&g=d&s=^ixic
is for the entire historical data of nasdaq. my question is there anyway to set up a job so SQL will query this and import the data automatically? I was even hoping to have a separate DB or file with all the sympols and query it dynamically to download the data for each one.

This should do it for you: http://blogs.conchango.com/jamiethomson/archive/2006/05/31/4009.aspx
You should be able to adapt this easily so as to pass in all your symbols. Good luck!!

thank you
i'll be trying this in the next few weeks and will compare it to simply having SSIS jobs scheduled and downloading data manually

I don't really understand what you mean. You are quite able to build what I have suggested above and then schedule it. What comparison are you going to be making?
