  • :crying:

  • please guide me...

is it good to move in BI tool area.

  • It's always good to broaden your horizons.

    As a DBA/BI DW Architect/ETL Developer I can say I keep busy.

If you go BI, pick one tool from the top 3 and get reallly good with it before you consider a second one.

Each tool is different, and if you don't get one down pretty good before you pick up another you'll just wind up confused.

  • Hi,

SSRS is better for you because you need to show enterprise data some times so i think it is better to learn SSRS and if you have chance to learn SSIS it is good stuff for ever...good luck

  • Your supervisor at work should really be the one providing you with guidance about what BI tools you need to learn. Other than padding your resume, there is no point learning SSRS and SSAS, if your oraganization ultimately plans to implement Crystal Reports and Cognos.

Also, you need to know wether your role in relation to BI will be as an administrator or a developer. On Microsoft's website, you can find many documents specifically geared toward Planning and Architecture, Performance Optimization, etc. for SSRS and SSAS. Just like SQL Server, all these BI sub-systems have back end components that need to be managed, and as the DBA I'd expect you to be the go-to guy since the BI developers themselves typically don't focus on leaning internals.

So, find out from your management what BI tool platform they plan to deploy and wether your role will be a developer, administrator, or both.
