With the purpose of demo of using extended events, a 3rd party tool, and DMVs for Performance Analysis and T-SQL optimization, i need to run one or a few queries that will create a large server resource consumption and produce an exemplary (bad) query plan that will later change for better after modifying T-SQL.
There will be no access to any production servers during this demo, i will only have my laptop with sql 2016 Enterprise installed on it and an overhead projector.
Question: is there an existing query or set of queries somewhere on www that would do what i need to demo to a small group of folks who are new to sql performance analysis?
Or do you have an idea or an existing query on how to do that?
