I know I've seen it before and even heard rumors around my company, but has anyone done benchmarking with and without hyper-threading? Any references to performance of SQL Server being higher or lower than without hyper-threading?
TIA, Steve

HI Steve, I haven't done any benchmarking myself but I remember an article telling that hyperthreading gives you about 1.2 times the performance of a single CPU. Unfortunately I can't find the site at the moment, but if I find it I will post the link.

Thanks for the link. That is interesting. I thought people were saying that performance had decreased in some benchmarks, but I haven't been able to find anything.

Steve,
There have been some rumours that hyperthreading in Windows XP SP1 did have a negative impact on performance. The culprit apparently was the UnmapViewOfFile function.

I saw that one. Was concerned about W2K server performance. Most of the MS information is now focusing on W2K3, so I thought I might be missing something.
