I have SQL Server 2008 R2 Express installed on a Vista laptop. I have a SQL app db installed. I have been told I can use SSRS to do some fancy reporting from the db. When I check either Control Panel or Services I cannot find that SSRS was installed initially at the SQL Server installation. I have tried installing it from the original SQL Server 2008 R2 Express download file from MS (SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe), with the "add features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2008 R2", but none of the features listed have anything to do with Reporting Services. Whenever I search for a topic of "how to install SSRS after SQL Server 2008 r2 Express is installed" I get articles on installing SSRS at the time of installation of SQL, nothing about AFTER the original installation. Help!

Hi Steve,
That file (SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe) is just SQL Express plus Management tools - you need Express with Advanced Services (SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe) to get Reporting Services.
(And any reason for x86 over x64?) Edit - oh wait, Vista, sorry 🙂
Cheers
