How to install SQL Server 2005 named instance on non-C drive

  • Hi, I had a SQL Server 2005 default instance installed on G: drive (G:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1), today I tried to install a SQL Server 2005 named instance on G: drive on the same machine, during the installation, it never asked me where to install it, I thought it will create a folder like G:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2, but it is not, instead, it install the whole thing under C: drive. Does anyone know how to specify the install path? Thanks a lot!

  • In Installation Wizard, after selecting the feature to install, go to Advanced button and there you change the installation path.
