Hi all,
we have a server (Windows server 2008 R2 Standard) that runs a hyper V manager.
The Hyper V manager runs 2 virtual servers.
One of the virtual servers uses the software XAMPP (it’s a web portal). The local IP for the virtual machine is 192.168.0.xxx
I have configured the XAMPP in a way so that any user in our domain can access the portal when the user writes the ip address in the web browser.
Instead of the ip address, I want the user to be able to write a specific given name.
How can I create this?

While it is actually likely you might find somebody around here with this knowledge you should realize this forum is about sql server and you are talking about windows servers. You will probably have better luck on a forum like stack overflow.

Adding a DNS entry for the IP address should do it.. there should already be an entry for it based on the computer name... assuming a windows environment.

Sean's right. The first result of a Bing search found the page http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19708783/xampp-setup-to-use-name-instead-of-ip-address. It says to create an entry in your hosts file on the server, which makes sense to me, but I don't virtualize my servers.
