How do I deploy Report Builder (the RS ad hoc reporting feature) to a user. As an administrator I see the Report Builder icon on the toolbar. I have a test account that I cannot figure out out how to give access to the Report Builder icon. I've played with the security setting for the test account, but I can never get the Report Builder icon to appear. I've found that this URL will execute Report Builder -- http://server name/reportserver/reportbuilder/reportbuilder.application What is the best way to deploy ReportBuilder to a user? |

There is a role named Report Builder, just assign it to your users.
For the Report Builder to be used, first you have to create and deploy a report model.
Here is some info:

Thanks, daniel.
Will look at assigning the Report Builder role tomorrow when I get to the office.

I'm having the same problem. I think that 3 conditions are necessary in order to see the Report Builder icon:
1- Report Services Report Builder client installed on the user’s machine.
2- A Report Data Model must be created and deployed.
3- The user group must have access to the folder that has the Report Data Model and access rights to the Data Model as well
But interesting enough, even thought I created and deployed a Data Model in a folder that has the My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder permissions, I cannot see the model in the directory. Not sure why that is.
