How to backup subscription to reports in SSRS

  • Hi,

I want to republish all of my reports to the reporting server. For this I am deleting all the old reports and publishing the rdls again. But the problem is I have several subscriptions(standard) associated with the old reports. How can I take backup or script those subscription so that I can resume them back once I republish my reports which saves the user from creating them back.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Try uisng this tool to backup the script

  • You can use this tool SSRS Subscription Manager. It backs up subscriptions to Excel. Backing up subscriptions to Excel also allows you to edit and change subscriptions- for example change a parameter value, or if you upload a new version of a report with a new parameter- in this case all your current subscriptions would fail- as the current subscriptions would not know about the new parameter. With report manager you would need to recreate all your subscriptions however with SSRS Subscription Manager you backup the subscriptions to Excel and add another column in Excel for the new parameter and restore the subscriptions.

The tool can also be used to create subscriptions in bulk- have a look at the youtube video for creating 500 subscriptions in less than 5 minutes- try doing that in report manager!
