  • BWAAA-HAAAAA!!!  All the answers are incorrect... the correct answer is "This is easy to do in T-SQL... why don't you stick with that"? 😀

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • I really enjoy these quick, 1-question distractions, especially when I get them right.

Since I'm such a noob, and have NO idea about 99% of the questions here, I've made a personal rule that I can Google one question about your question (but not your exact question). After that it's educated guesswork, sometimes process of elimination.

For this one I Googled "R dataframe dplyr" and the returned search results contained the only clue I needed: dplyr makes '$' unnecessary.

  • That is really interesting, learned something new today, thanks Steve.

    Agree with Jeff, though...

  • I ran into this and was surprised. The syntax is strange, but what a quick easy way to aggregate.
