How do I determine the status of a re-indexing operation?

  I have a bi-weekly job that will perform a re-index operation either rebuilding online or reorganizing based on criteria. Normally, my job finishes within an hour. But, this time the largest table was marked for reorganizing and it has so far been running 7+ hours.

  Does anyone know how (if it can be done) to determine the status of a re-indexing operation?

  by "status" I mean progression i.e. 20%, 50%, ... complete.
