How do I Concatenate Data together in a "SQL View"

  • HI, I have the following Data (for example);

    Job Number    Date        Notes

      1               11/12/06   Dummy Data

      1               12/12/06   Another Dummy Data Line

      2               11/12/06   Just another test line

      2               10/12/06   test

    I require the final output (or tempoary table/view) as;

    1                 Dummy Data, Another Dummy Data Line

    2                 test, Just another test line

    I'm using a SQL view to achieve the output of notes sorted by date for each job number

    I can't get SQL View to accept a GROUP BY or DECLARE variables to build the string

    Any pointers would be helpful?

  • - Which version of sqlserver are you using ??

    - With sql2000 you may want to take a look at user defined functions to accomplish this

    - with sql2005 a pivot might help out
