Help with retore full & differential

  • Hi,

When there is a server crash, first i restore latest FULL backup and differential backups from then, or the latest differential backups?

  • Restore the full, the latest differential and then all the transaction log backups since the last diff (if you have log backups) in sequence

  • I will do so... but now i tested a sample..After i restored the full backup with NORECOVERY, i found that in the console tree, the database seems unavailable..It says NO IETMS...

Is there a reason why this is happening?

Is there a reason why this is happening?

Because the restore was with NORECOVERY.

The database won't be available until do a restore WITH RECOVERY and that must be on the very last backup that you restore (diff or log) as after that no more backups can be restored.
