Help with retore full & differential

    Hi,

    When there is a server crash, first i restore latest FULL backup and differential backups from then, or the latest differential backups?

    Restore the full, the latest differential and then all the transaction log backups since the last diff (if you have log backups) in sequence

    I will do so... but now i tested a sample..After i restored the full backup with NORECOVERY, i found that in the console tree, the database seems unavailable..It says NO IETMS...

    Is there a reason why this is happening?

    Because the restore was with NORECOVERY.

    The database won't be available until do a restore WITH RECOVERY and that must be on the very last backup that you restore (diff or log) as after that no more backups can be restored.

    oh..thatz quite something...Well..thanks for letting me know..i will work on it and see if i can succeed in restoring the differential now..
