    Backup and recovery policy as susch is a vast topic. Most oraganisations set up these policies according to their business needs, downtime acceptable and considering many other factors as well.

    So different types of backup strategy is choosen depending on size of data, backup media etc. these can be full ,incremental,differential etc. you need to have a tested restore procedure for which ever backup strategy you are choosing.
