Guidance on Rolling up changed schema into production db needed

  • Hi everyone,

I am planning to deploy my own site using asp.net mvc and sql server 2008.

It should be servicing clients around the clock and may eventually be handling 10,000 plus clients although probably no more than 100 clients at any one time will be online.

I can foresee that there will be changes in the database but not the exact nature of them (e.g adding new payment gateway providers in addition to paypal, etc)

I have not administered a live production database before and really need steering in the right direction as to how to safely and efficiently handle the post launch development of a live database.

Personal book, article, blog post recommendations all gratefully recieved.

    Thanks a lot

    All the best

    Paul

  • You should probably employ the expertise of an experienced DBA to help you establish and implement all of the procedures from application upgrades to disaster recovery.... at least in the beginning. It is hard to impart the level of knowledge and expertise you need to deploy and support an active website by just reading a book or an article.

The probability of survival is inversely proportional to the angle of arrival.
