It's definitely hard to keep up. If you try to stay on top of every new development, idea, technique ... there won't be time to actually work. I think a couple ideas from your editorial express how to navigate the issue: learn how to learn, and "do I know more now than I did last year?"
Keep skills fresh, avoid stagnation, avoid frustration, give yourself grace, and do what is necessary so you don't dread Mondays.
