"Generic" Daily maintenance Plans

  • As I just found there is good reason to run "sp_delete_backuphistory" as part of our daily maintenance plan. (I knew about it but didn't use it.)

What steps (i.e. jobs, stored procs, t-sql, COM objects, etc.), of a generic nature, do you include in your daily maintenance plans? (Maybe one of you have another "sp_delete_backuphistory" that I can use in my daily maintenance plan.)

    TIA,

    Bill

  • No,I don't use it. I only used a maintenance plan for the backup of my system databases, but if you want to limit the size of your table that logs the backups, you can do it in the maintenance plan, limiting the max rows. Don't need to create a new maintenance plan to exec sp_delete_backup_history

  • Yes. I agree. I do the same.
