GDI+ and Dot Net 2.0 with SQL Server 2000 Issue

  • Hi,

I have one SQL Server 2000 which is critical and it's installed on Windows 2000 Server.

I am going to deploy Windows Defender on that server and this requires GDI+ and dot net 2.0 to be install on that server.

I would like to know if I install GDI+ and dot net 2.0 on sql server 2000 will it generate any issues to sql server 2000 as the server is very critical so could not take any chance.

I tried google already but did'nt get any useful information about it.

Can someone put some light on it or provide me some useful information about my query.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Anurag

  • .NET 2.0 will certainly install on Windows 2000 without affecting your SQL Server. Not so sure about GDI+, but it is only an API, so shouldn't have any effect.

    HOWEVER :w00t:

You mention several times this is a critical server. In that case, I would recommend you definitely do not install anything new on it. If you absolutely have to, then get an old server, set it up so that it is identical to your production server, install the new applications and then test.

    And then test again.
