File Transfer Strangeness

  • Ok here's the deal:

We have a set of maintenance plans that include within them database and transaction log backups to specified directories with an option to create a subfolder for the specific database to which the plan pertains.

We have noticed over the last few days that in addition to the files being correctly placed in the specified destination directories, they are ALSO placed in the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory on the server.

There are no instructions that require this to happen and no other explicit process that we can find that would seem to cause it. Nothing is mentioned in the logging for the maintenance jobs either. It's worth noting that this happens even when the destination for the BAK + TRN files is changed...

We are using SQL Server 7.0 w/SP3 on a Windows NT4 Server platform.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

    Cheers.

  • Are they the same size?

  • Yup.

    They are completely identical.
