Greetings all, [first post here]
I am a newbie studying towards the 70-228 exam.
I already have the core OS exams and have decided to pursue a career along the DBA route.
Although I don't currrently work day-to-day with SQL I have been working from the MS Press "SQL Server 2000 System Administration" Book.[which seems to be a very good book!]
Having searched though this forum for "70-228", for views & opinions that I could take on board and use myself in preparing for the exam I keep seeing posts stating that this particular exam is going to be discontinued.
Looking at the Microsoft site I found the following Discontinued List of Exams, effective as of March 2008.
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcpexams/status/examstoretire.mspx
Although, neither 70-228 or 70-229 are listed I wondering why I've seen posts stating that they are to be retired in 2008.
Can anyone put my mind to rest [once & for all] that all the studying I'm currently doing isn't going to be in vain!!
Cheers,

With SQL 2008 to be released next year, it's likely those exams will be retired. However there are lots of SQL 2000 instances still running, so I'm not sure your work will be in vain.
