I am having problems with a database server. Recently the Server (2000) databases and server have become "heavy". I put a trace on and have seen that error messages repeatedly show up for 2 of the databases on the server.
The Error message reads: "17137 : Starting up database XXX"
The error message is shown reperatedly for 1-2 minutes (20-30 times) when opening SQL Server Enterprise Manager and during this time the program is inaccessable. After this initial problem everything works as usual.
I backed up the databses and restored to another server. The same problem showed up on the other machine. I scripted and deleted the db and reinstalled from script. The problem then dissapeared.
This is OK for one of the DB, but the second contains data which I cannot affors to lose.
PLEASE - does anyone have any ideas on what this can depend and more importantly, how to repair.

Oh yea !!!
Autoclose was on. Turned it off and hat did the job.
Thanks for that one.
Any tips on the perfect setup for SQLServer2000 Options (Settings)
