Hi,
I am backing up the DB on to the server through UNC path. Some days it does the backups properly but I get this error off and on only for this database. I have around 50 DBS on the same instance. I am using sql 2000 on windows 2003 machine(64 bit).
BackupDiskFile::RequestDurableMedia: failure on backup device
'\\server1\TEST_db_200605300230.BAK'. Operating system error 64(The specified network name is no longer available.).
Thoughts on how can I fix this error. I have read the microsoft KB
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822219&SD=tech. I do not have any 3rd party backup utilities on this server.

It sounds like your network is busy or unreliable and therefore your backup cannot complete. Is the database that is failing the biggest, by any chance? Or is it being backed up at a time of high network activity?
If you have the disk space, it's better to back up the database to the same server and then copy the backup file to the new location.
