Error Trying To Execute Maintenance Plan

  • Good afternoon,

While trying to execute a newly created Maintenance Plan I was encountering the following message :

Failed executing API: CreateProcess. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029).

Of course, I'm not having any luck on the MS site trying to track this down. Has anyone ever experienced this situation and how was it resolved?

Any input that you can share will be very appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Which part of the maintenance plan? I suspect that either the plan didn't create correctly or there is corruption in sqlmaint.exe.

Have you dropped and recreated the plan? Can you create another plan that does one thing, like backups, and run that?

  • Steve,

Thanks for input I think you answered my question. Everything attempted fails and now I believe it's related to a problem with the version od Sql Server 2000 I have. It does not contain the sqlmaint.exe file in any of the folders. I hope that there's an easy way to get it where it needs to go ?

It's strange because on my box I can run the maintenance plans. This particular version of Sql Server 2000 that's failing is older than mine.

Does that make any sense ?

Share your thoughts and thanks in advance.

  • The sqlmaint.exe should be in the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn

You might be able to recreate it by running the service pack again, since it's part of SP3.
