Hi Everyone,
I have an analysis services database that I have built a reporting services model from. When I create a report in report builder almost anytime I include anything from a time dimensions into the report, I get the following error when the report is run:
[font="Verdana"]Query (3, 726) The LEVELS function expects a hierarchy expression for the 0 argument. A level expression was used.
----------------------------
Semantic query execution failed.
----------------------------
Query execution failed for data set 'dataSet'.
----------------------------
An error has occurred during report processing.[/font]
From what I've been able to gather, this is an MDX error. I have done a trace on the analysis services database and grabbed the MDX that's being run. When I copy the MDX into a query window and run it, I get the same error.
I can rearrange the MDX (even though I don't really know what I'm doing) and get it to return something, but that doesn't really address the problem, which is: What could be wrong with my Analysis services database (or the time dimensions in it) that would cause the report builder to generate invalid MDX like this?
I'm pretty new at Analysis services. Any help is appreciated.

At least I'm not the only one.
I've done some looking around, and it doesn't seem that there are that many people that are exposing cubes through the report builder tool. Has that been your impression as well?
