Error: Cannot create a connection to data source 'dsMIS'

  • The report runs fine locally but when its deployed to the report server and run from there the following error occurs: "Cannot create a connection to data source 'dsMIS'". The data source settings on the report server match that on the local machine. They are set to "Credentials stored securely in report server". Why am I still unable to run this report from the report server?

The data source settings on the report server match that on the local machine. They are set to "Credentials stored securely in report server". Why am I still unable to run this report from the report server?

        Because there is a difference of some sort between the local server (do you mean a SQL Server instance on your PC) and the report server.
        Instead of assuming they are exactly the same, it often helps to assume there is a difference and then try to find the difference.
        The "credentials stored security on report server", those credentials need to be the same. The data sources need to be the same. The permissions for those stored credentials need to be the same and if used for unattended execution that account needs permissions to log on locally and logon as a batch job.
