Error 19407 Expired Lease

  • We have a 3 node Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 cluster with SQL 2012 Enterprise and 6 Alwayson Availability groups. It's a multi site cluster with nodes A and B in 1 location and C a couple of miles down the road with a 40gb path between the locations. We're running version 11.0.3405 of SQL Server. About every 5 hours (it's random) we receive error 19407 in the SQL error log along with event id 1069 in the cluster events (Cluster resource 'ONEOFTHEAGs_10.27.11.11' in clustered service or application 'ONEOFTHEAGs' failed.). The 10.27 address points to the remote location our C node resides at which should be offline by design. We have a case open with Microsoft currently and they seem to be having a hard time with this one. We have a meeting with them today to configure netmon on the servers. We've modified the cluster settings to relaxed monitoring. Network activity between the two sites runs at about 2% on average. The A and B nodes have 160 procs and 1TB of RAM running on SSD storage. The C node isn't quite as beefy and is running on spinning disks. Occasionally the availability groups will failover between the A and B nodes. Any advice on what to look at would be appreciated.
