Error 18456 Severity 14 State 8, 11 and 38

    is there a way to run a script from the cmd window that will change every login's default database to master?

    As i read this error, it means a login has a default database that does not exist on the server, but i cannot log in (login as admin doesnt work either) to change it, so im hoping there is a way to change that via the os?

    If you can't log in, you can't run commands, even from SQLCMD.

    You could use the DAC (see here for details) to connect as sysadmin and then change the default DB for all the logins.

    i used my influence to get the installer to add me to sysadmins, so at least i can get in the house!
