Enable CLR

  • Hi all,

    Is it possible to enable SQL Server 2008 System CLR on a existing SQL Serevr 2005 instance without installing SQL Server 2008 DE?

    In my SQL server 2005 instance I have already enabled CLR , but developer wanted it to be of SQL Server 2008 CLR I was woundering as this is config value will it be possible?

  • Nope. Those are different pieces of functionality inherent to the different versions of SQL Server. If there's 2008 functionality needed, it's also going to need the underlying 2008 engines.
