Hi All,
We have an on-premise CRM 2016 setup that's using SQL 2014 in Denver, CO. We have a large office in Australia and CRM access is pretty slow due to the distance. We have been looking into setting up some kind of synchronization so our Australian users can connect to the same database there a local speeds. We've engaged CenturyLink and they are telling me that they can use 2-way log shipping to be able to "sync" the data between servers and allow Australian users to connect through that database. Data does not need to be real-time as Perth is on opposite schedules as the US, but data written to both sides must be synced with the other side. CL tells me they can get everything synced between each other in 3-5 minutes after a change.
I'm not a SQL DBA and everywhere I look online I'm being told that it doesn't work, but I haven't found anything specifically for CRM 2016 and SQL 2014 that tells me it can happen one way or the other. Only with CRM 2011 have I found any input on this.
Can someone give me a final answer on this? Is log shipping ever 2-way? Anyone have experience with syncing databases this far away and maybe with CRM?
Thanks,
Tony

Are you talking about Microsoft CRM, or some other CRM system? If MS CRM, for such a big undertaking I'd be talking to Microsoft and asking for their opinion/recommendations. If it's possible (and I've never heard of two-way log shipping either), it still sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Have you considered Citrix?
