    Can anyone share a Disaster Recovery Plan for SQL Server (Log Shipping) with me . ??

  • Hi..the following depends on how your network is configured/managed. I'm also assuming that you have log shipping set-up and running ok and just need to know a way to cut over. For our set up it suits us to make the secondary server the primary by IP address so no clients need to be altered at all.  We've also found its easier to stop log shipping and set it up again if you ever need to cut over, esp if your primary server is down for some time. Anyway basic proc when primary fails is from control panel go to network conns, right click relevant adaptor and go into properties, highlight tcp/ip and go to properties, put all relevant ip address info in (obtain from ipconfig /all), click advanced, click wins and add relevant info.  Your secondary server has now assumed the primary ip address, log shipping is broken and needs to be re-configured if thats what you want to do. Hope this at least gives you some pointers
