Do you allow developer to access Production Server

  • Barcoder, I agrees on the battle being won, its beneficial to the whole company but still needs to win the war by keep the agrees/discipline/etc. in place and adhere to by ALL parties involved. May even helps to get rid of the us and them if applicable to your environment.

  • Here's a unique situation, I'm the DBA and my developer has limited rights to the database.

What's unique about that? I'm both. I created two LOGINs, one for my position as DBA and the other for me as developer. Both have different permissions based on the job.

This keeps me from 'messing' anything up when I'm doing developing. It also sets the precedence that DBAs and Developers have different access levels.
