Do we hv to replace SQL server native client 11.0 with latest SQL OLE DB Driver

  • As it stated in microsoft site that "This support exception does not cover using SQL Native Client 11.0 as a driver for database applications to connect to SQL Server. "

Does this mean we have to change the driver in all our applications with latest OLEDB Driver?

  • Yes I would be changing the driver from the SNaC to OLEDB.

The native client has been depreciated for many years now and is no longer receiving updates and it doesn't work well with AOAG's and other new technology.

So yes, use the latest OLEDB driver in all new greenfield development and plan to upgrade your existing applications when possible,
