Do I need to rebuild SQL Server to restore DTS packages?

  • We had a series of DTS that were on DEV server that was taken offline and subsequently wiped clean.

I have restored the file system for the SQL Server and am about to attempt to rebuild the server.

The question is, where does SQL Server store the DTS packages when saved to the server not as a .dts file?

Will I be able to access these DTS packages once I have rebuilt the server?

  • If your packages were saved to SQL Server and if you have a backup of the MSDB database, you can restore the packages by restoring the database.
